New Dock for the Mission House

The Mission House dock had washed away during a storm while we were in the states. (See Back at the Mission House.) The church decided to rebuild it which delighted us. It's nice to walk out onto, even to eat lunch on. We can also be picked up there for transport to the keys when I preach out there, though for now the boat that takes us is moored just a few houses down.

8' posts for the new dock The eight foot posts are huge in diameter compared to what was there before.

The men who built the dock worked very quickly. Three days from start to finish, despite a lot of rain. Here the posts are sunk and the runners attached.

Work underway

Work underway Jill checks out the decking, now 75% complete. We were surprised to see new lumber being used rather than boards recycled from the house being rehabbed across the street.

It's finished! The sun is far enough south at this time of year that we can enjoy some beautiful sunsets from the dock. Sunset from the dock
