Journal Entry for Sunday, July 16, 2000

Utila's power went out Thursday night, July 13 for repairs to the municipality's generator. We wheeled out the mission house's emergency generator (affectionately known as Genny). Running it two hours out of every eight kept our refrigerator cold and allowed us to check our e-mails. (The phone system stayed on.) Power was restored on a part-time basis one week later (July 20).

Genny runs like a champ, by the way. Both Jill and I can start her with just one pull.
