    The Miss Morgan Goes Down

Sun Jam is an annual 24 hour event out on Water Key that brings in a lot of tourists. Saturday afternoon, July 8 Rogers Bush was taking people out to Water Key on his boat, the Miss Morgan when it rolled over just beyond Laguna Beach Resort. The boat was overloaded; police chief Ralph Zalayas told me that 70 people were aboard. There were a couple of injuries but no deaths, thankfully. Following the accident I learned that the boat is a fishing vessel only and not permitted to carry more than six people. The harbor master saw the overloaded boat leave Rogers' dock from the municipal building and radioed him to return but the call was ignored. I've been told that the boat is valued at US$75,000. It's pretty much a total loss though the hull itself may be salvageable.

This is all that's left of the Miss Morgan following it's salvage on July 15. The Miss Morgan following recovery

The Miss Morgan following recovery After the boat rolled over the cabin was smashed off by the waves slamming her against the reef.

The Miss Morgan won't be going anywhere soon. The hull is intact but that's about it. The Miss Morgan following recovery
