Journal Entry for Sunday, August 15, 1999
    Sunrise at the Keys

Okay, the journal entry date says Sunday but this was really Monday's sunrise.  It comes so early that it only felt like it was still Sunday night to me!

Sunrise I awoke at 5:00a.m. and quickly dressed to watch the sunrise.  I took this photo at about 5:15. That's Utila to the left and a fisherman, I'm guessing, in his dory.

I walked around a bit, admiring the beautiful skies.  This is looking to the northeast.  Diamond Cay is in the foreground; Utila is behind it. Sunrise

Sunrise Just across the bridge to Lower Cay is a house on its own island.  (There's even a drawbridge to get to it!)

And back at the Hotel the sun has risen.  I went back to bed at 6:15 and slept another 45 minutes! Sunrise

"Ocean Lady" No dory for me on the way back.  I'd been booked on the "Ocean Lady."  (Mr. Newton paddles a tiny canoe out to his boat, by the way.) Seas were calm at 8:30; it was a nice ride home.
